Amoako’s creativity does not end when he puts down a paintbrush. Music is another important part of his life — and another way he communicates with the world.

Beyond the canvas

Piano, voice and movement

Amoako plays piano and takes lessons at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, in addition to private online instruction. He also loves to sing and spends time at karaoke every week — on one memorable occasion, he sang thirty songs over two hours.

During Mainly Mozart – Genius Week in San Diego in 2019, Amoako sang before presenting Dr. Temple Grandin with the portrait he had created of her. He also explores movement through dance at the Mark Morris Dance Center.

At work

Making, wherever he is

Amoako paints and draws outdoors as readily as he does at home — on rooftops, in parks, beside water, under blossoming trees. Alongside painting and drawing he creates digital artwork and keeps exploring new ways of expressing himself.
